Our Volunteers Make It Happen!

Whether you can give a few hours, a few weeks, or a few months, volunteering with Girl Scouts is flexible and fun. Be a troop leader that supports her every week, or work with other adults to provide the kind of behind-the-scenes support that makes it all possible.

Patrol Leader/Co-Leader

Leaders and Co-Leaders work with groups of girls to mentor them as they make new friends and develop skills that will last a lifetime. We adhere to a set of Child Safety and Security Guidelines, which specify the adult-child ratio at each age level. So, the number of volunteers in this category dictates the number of girls we can serve.
Current need:
  • 1 Daisy Helper* (age group K-1st grades)
  • 1 Junior Helper* (age group 4th-5th grades)
  • 1 CSA Co-Leader* (age group 6th-12th grades)

Cookie Manager

Did you know that Girl Scout cookies serve a larger purpose than fundraising? The Girl Scout program includes training in entrepreneurial skills that the girls then practice throughout the cookie sale. Awesome, right? The Cookie Manager coordinates the cookie sale at the troop level (because it is, after all, a business). Duties include setting up cookie booths, managing inventory and money, and tracking individual sales as the girls work toward their goals.
Current need:
  • 1 cookie booth coordinator*
  • 1 inventory helper

Family and Friends

We appreciate all of the additional, behind-the-scenes help we can get. This is where the Family and Friends volunteers come in. Planning, driving*, money management, and chaperoning*are just some of the ways you can help, without an every-meeting commitment. We especially appreciate those who share their areas of expertise as the girls learn about
  • Life Skills - including health and citizenship
  • Outdoors - be it wildlife, camping/hiking, or conservation
  • STEM - mechanical, environmental, technological... take your pick
  • Entrepreneurship - money matters, product development, marketing, etc.
*For the safety of our girls, certain volunteers are asked to register with Girl Scouts of Central Maryland and submit to a background check.
